Dyslexia organizations have already reached out in support of the project, and millions of people are anticipating to see this story on screen.

“Ohhh, let’s just wait and see.” “Let’s “Ohhh, let’s just wait and see.”
“Let’s give it time…”
“Maybe they’ll grow out of it…”

For years, Ameer Baraka (@ameerbaraka ) struggled For years, Ameer Baraka (@ameerbaraka ) struggled to read without knowing why.

He watched his siblings succeed in school while he struggled. He internalized the labels placed on him. Eventually, those struggles became wrapped up in what he believed was possible for his life.

It wasn’t until he was incarcerated as a young adult that someone finally recognized: Ameer had dyslexia.

He says that simply having an explanation changed something in him.

Ameer shares his incredibly powerful journey from unidentified dyslexia to literacy advocacy — and why learning to read gave him something much bigger than just literacy skills.
